SSA #42 Program Manager

The South Shore Chamber Economic Development, Inc. is seeking an individual for the position of Program Manager for SSA #42-71st St/Stony Island. The Program Manager (PM) will work in conjunction with the businesses, police department, residents, and vendors to make the commercial corridors a desirable and safe destination. The boundaries of the SSA#42 are as follows: 71st Street from Kimbark to South Shore Drive, Stony Island from 67th to 79th Street on the West side and from 67th to 73rd on the East side.

The Program Manager (PM) will ensure compliance with policies and procedures for SSA #42, South Shore Chamber Economic Development Inc., South Shore Chamber of Commerce, and City of Chicago’s Dept. of Planning and Development. The PM will report directly to the Executive Director. The PM will work with the businesses, residents, SSA taxpayers, police, community leaders, subcontractors and government officials to retain and attract businesses, beautify the streetscape and improve the commercial district. The PM will also facilitate RFP’s and present bids for contracts and oversee the performance of all SSA contractors.

PM should have excellent organizational and communication skills and the ability to effectively prioritize; Must be self-motivating, able to work independently and in a team environment; Must have strong customer relations and computer skills, upbeat personality and be familiar with the South Shore business community and SSA districts; Must be able to handle multiple projects; Excellent time management skills. Candidate would ideally have fiscal management and procurement experience. Placemaking and urban planning a plus.
